What we collect
When you use the platform, we may collect your name, school Google email address and the basic Google identity information needed to sign you in. We also record your class membership, questions presented, answers, results, time taken, confidence selections, hints used, saved revision-question selections, generated reports and skill-continuum progress.
If you submit feedback or a bug report, we store the message, its category, the page from which it was sent and your signed-in name and school email when available. Signed-in school users may optionally attach a screenshot, which can contain information visible on their screen. Pre-sign-in text feedback may be stored without a name or email, but anonymous screenshot uploads are not accepted.
For enrolled students, we record a limited visit history after school Google sign-in and class selection. This includes the student and class, visit start and last activity time, and page-load count. Registered teacher accounts are excluded, and IP addresses are not stored for student-usage reporting.
For teachers and administrators, we keep the account and class information needed to provide authorised access. Essential technical and security logs or cookies may also be used to operate and protect the service.
Why we collect it
Information is used to authenticate users, connect students to the correct class, select suitable revision questions, show progress, generate reports, help teachers plan learning support, review feedback, improve the service, maintain the platform and investigate technical or security issues.
Who can see it
- Students can access their own practice history, progress and reports.
- Teachers can access information for students in their own classes.
- The platform owner can access teacher-account information required to administer access, roles and platform security.
- Feedback, bug reports and any attached screenshots are visible only to the platform owner through the protected administrator workspace.
GeneralMaths.app does not sell personal information and does not use student information for advertising. Google provides school-account sign-in, while Cloudflare provides hosting and data infrastructure.
Access controls and account administration
One configured platform-owner account is authorised to create teacher accounts, assign or remove administrator roles, change account status and remove teacher accounts. Other teacher and administrator accounts cannot create users or change another person’s access, role or position.
Teachers, including teachers assigned an administrator label, remain restricted to their own classes, students, reports and progress records. Platform-owner account-management permission does not automatically add another teacher’s classes or student records to the owner’s teaching workspace.
Retention, access and correction
An unfinished practice remains available to resume for 48 hours after its latest activity. It is then marked as abandoned and excluded from attempt totals, averages and downloadable reports. Answers already submitted may remain as formative skill-continuum evidence. Abandoned sessions with no submitted answers are automatically deleted after 30 days.
Records are retained in line with applicable school and Victorian Department of Education recordkeeping requirements. Information may be deleted or de-identified when it is no longer required, subject to those obligations.
Once feedback or a bug report has been resolved, the platform owner may permanently delete the response and any attached screenshot when they are no longer needed.
Students and families can ask to access or correct personal information by speaking with the class teacher or contacting St Albans Secondary College administration. Requests to remove information will be considered subject to legal, safety and recordkeeping requirements.
Progress insights are formative
Skill-continuum levels, suggested gaps and revision recommendations are automated learning supports. They are not official grades, examination predictions or replacements for teacher judgement.
